Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (HITEC) is the hallmark of education in Taxila. Spread over an area of more than 50 acres, HITEC University is located at the foot of Margalla Hills only 2 km from Taxila city and 30 km North West of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is an integrated and purpose specific complex, housing educational institutes, catering for pre-school to university level education.

HITEC University started in 2007 with an intake of 250 students in affiliation with UET Taxila. Within a short span of two years, it was granted its own charter in November, 2009 by the Government of the Punjab. The University is sponsored by Heavy Industries Taxila Education Welfare Trust (HITEWT). Ranked in category “W” by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, HITEC University is Pakistan’s premier academic and research institution.

The University has educational linkages with leading Universities like Strathclyde University of UK, Istanbul Technical University of Turkey and Universiti Teknologi of Malaysia. This collaboration is to give an opportunity to our student and faculty for higher education and research collaboration.

 A special point to note is that HITEC University is now one of the seven leading Universities of the country that has transformed their degrees on “Outcome based Education” system in alignment with academic programs accredited under “Washington Accord”. Consequently, our degrees would now be recognized in the U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Open House of HITEC

In 2019, open house is conducted on 13th of June2019; there are 36 projects displayed in Mechanical Engineering department in autonomous fields of robotics, automotive ,defence system, human aid system and solar technology. 

Electrical Engineering department has a total of 40 projects focused on efficient integration of renewable generation in the power system. In electronics, projects are based primarily on IOT, AI and Fuzzy.

Computer Engineering and Computer Sciences has displayed 23 projects that are focused on robotics, machine, artificial intelligence, surveillance system and human aid systems

There are guests from more than twenty five industries that participated in the 7th Open House and Job Fair from different parts of the country. Open House was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of HITEC University and the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony for Prize Distribution was Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Maj. Gen. (R) Aamir Azeem Bajwa HI (M).  The Chief Guest expressed his pleasure over the quality of the developed projects by the Final Year Students of HITEC University.
