Lieutenant General Abdullah Dogar, HI(M), Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila who is also Chairman Board of Governors HITEC University inaugurated the Olympiad 2019 on Thursday March 14, 2019. Opening ceremony was held in Iqbal auditorium which was attended by large number of students from participating universities like NUST, EME, COMSATS University, GC University Lahore, GC University Faisalabad, APCOMS, Wah Medical College, University of Wah, University of Haripur and others.

Olympiad 2019 is a mega inter university event spread over three days and comprising of 57 modules of sports including cricket, badminton, table tennis, chess, futsal, basketball etc.  Olympiad 2019 is being attended by more than 1000 teams participating in a variety of games.

Speaking at the occasion Chief Guest congratulated the organizing team who worked tirelessly to organize the event in a befitting manner. He felicitated all the participating teams who travelled from different areas to be part of Olympiad 2019. He advised the participants to celebrate the success but at the same time learn from the failures. He further highlighted the life lesson in these competitions, where you can have all the talent in the world, but without the hard work to sharpen these skills, the talent is inadequate. The efforts to win have to start much before the actual competition, because hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard!!

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, Vice Chancellor HITEC University thanked the Chief Guest, sponsors, organizing teams and all participating students & teams. He emphasized the importance of extracurricular and co-curricular activities with the expectation that rules of the games will be followed by all the students.
