Railway Hospital Visit

The Biomedical Engineering department of HITEC University recently embarked on an industrial tour at Pakistan Railway General Hospital in Rawalpindi. This tour served as a valuable opportunity for students to gain insights into the day-to-day operations of biomedical services across the hospital. During the visit, students were taught essential skills such as respecting patient privacy, conducting equipment checks, and effectively communicating with end-users to schedule planned preventive maintenance. They learned how to provide training and support to hospital staff, ensuring the smooth operation of biomedical equipment and services.

Industrial Visit to NICAT, for students of Computer Science Department

The industrial visit to NICAT (NASTP) on 2nd May 2024 provided an invaluable opportunity for students of Computer Science (8th Semester) to gain firsthand insights into the real-world implementation and functional opportunities within the IT sector and software houses. Under the supervision of faculty and the DSA Office, students were immersed in an environment where theoretical concepts were translated into practical applications. Through interactions with professionals at NICAT, students were able to grasp the intricate connection between academic knowledge and industrial demands. The visit not only broadened their understanding of the technical aspects but also highlighted the importance of adaptability and innovation in the rapidly evolving field of computer science and software engineering. During the visit, a talk was delivered by the IT Head and technical lead of NICAT, shedding light on emerging trends, cohorts, and entrepreneurial future ideas within the computer science domain. Another session on communication skills was also delivered by the communication expert to boost the soft skills of students. By delving into discussions surrounding entrepreneurship, students were encouraged to think beyond conventional boundaries and explore avenues for leveraging their technical expertise to drive meaningful change. Overall, the industrial visit to NICAT catalyzed students to align their academic pursuits with the dynamic requirements of the IT sector, empowering them to emerge as future leaders and innovators in the field.

Industrial Visit To Emirates Tower B-17 Islamaabad

Emirates Tower is located in b-17 Islamabad consisting of 17 stories and is currently under construction. Through interactions with industry professionals, students gathered practical knowledge, understand industry-specific challenges, and explore potential career paths. Industrial visits also foster networking opportunities and allow participants to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The knowledge and insights gained during this visit will undoubtedly benefit the students as they progress in their academic and professional endeavors in the field of civil engineering.

The educational visit to the Highway Research and Training Centre provided a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, enhancing their understanding of highway engineering, construction techniques, traffic management, and sustainability in transportation. The knowledge and insights gained during this visit will undoubtedly benefit the students as they progress in their academic and professional endeavors in the field of civil engineering.

The visit was conducted specifically for the final year students so that they can get an insight on the state-of-the-art equipment used in the pavement engineering. The students get to explore the equipment used foe the Super pave mix design of asphalt mixtures.

The day began with an introductory session, led by the Director HRTC, to provide an overview of the Highway Research and Training Centre and its importance in the transportation sector of Pakistan.

Students were taken on a guided tour of the HRTC. Students visited various labs and explored equipment used in the Superpave mix design. They learned how aggregate selection is done, followed by asphalt mixture preparation techniques. Then equipment used for performance testing of asphalt mixtures i.e., Cooper Wheel tracker test, Fatigue Test, Super pave gyratory compactor etc. were visited. Students were thoroughly informed about the importance of Superior performance testing that allows asphalt pavements designs that could handle the unique weather and traffic conditions as compared to the conventional asphalt testing.
An interactive question and answer session followed the presentation. Participants had the chance to clarify doubts and seek further insights on topics related to the Superior performance testing and its practical implications in Pakistan.

A group discussion and reflection session was conducted. Participants shared their observations, learnings, and insights gained from the trip. This provided an opportunity to connect the practical experiences of the day with their academic knowledge.

Industrial Visit To FECTO Cement Plant

The Civil Engineering Department of HITEC University Taxila organized a day trip to the FECTO Cement Plant for Civil Engineering students of batch 2021 on May 24, 2022. This day trip was designed to provide students with practical insights into the cement manufacturing process and was supervised by two senior faculty members, Engr. Muhammad Ehtasham and Engr. Nasir Ayaz.

The day trip to the FECTO Cement Plant offered students a unique opportunity to explore the cement manufacturing industry and observe the practical aspects of civil engineering. Here are the key activities and highlights of the trip:

The day commenced with an introduction and orientation session led by Engr. Muhammad Ehtasham and Engr. Nasir Ayaz. They provided an overview of the day's program and its educational objectives.

Students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the FECTO Cement Plant, where they witnessed various stages of cement production, including raw material processing, clinker production, and cement packaging. Students gained understanding of the cement manufacturing process, including the various stages involved such as raw material extraction, crushing, grinding, blending, burning, and milling. An interactive question and answer session was conducted with plant personnel. This allowed students to gain deeper insights into the plant's operations and the challenges faced in the cement manufacturing industry.

Students engaged in a group discussion session led by faculty members. They shared their thoughts and impressions, linking the practical experiences of the day to their academic knowledge.

The site visit to FECTO Cement Project significantly contributed to the academic growth and professional development of the civil engineering students. It provided students the exposure to the plant's machinery, equipment, and technologies thus helping them to understand the latest advancements in cement manufacturing.

Industrial Visit To Tarbela Dam

A day trip to the Tarbela Dam Project was organized by Civil Engineering Department HITEC University Taxila for batch 2019 and 2020 on Dec 18, 2021. The visit aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of hydroelectric power generation, dam construction, and the significance of the Tarbela Dam Project in Pakistan's energy and water management. The trip was supervised by Engr. Muhammad Ehtasham, Engr. Nasir Ayaz, Engr. Usman & Engr. Aftab Ullah.

This visit provided a unique opportunity to students to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, thereby enhancing their overall understanding of dam construction, hydroelectric power generation, environmental sustainability, and the multifaceted aspects of civil engineering.

The day began with an introductory session, led by the faculty members, to provide an overview of the Tarbela Dam Project, its historical context, and its significance in Pakistan's energy and water management.

Students were taken on a guided tour of the Tarbela Dam infrastructure. This included an exploration of the dam's various components, including the spillway, the power generation units, and the dam's control room. Participants had the opportunity to observe the massive scale of the dam and its technical aspects closely. A detailed presentation was given to students on the hydroelectric power generation process. This included an explanation of how water from the dam's reservoir is utilized to generate electricity. The presentation also covered the environmental impact and sustainability of such projects.

Industrial Visit To J7 Emporium,B17 Islamabad

This site visit was organized for Civil Engineering students of batch 2020 on 07th December, 2021. Senior faculty members named Engr. Saffi ur Rehman, Engr Nasir Ayaz, Engr Hamza and Engr Usman supervised this activity.The selected site for the trip was an on-going project of J7 Emporium in Multi- Gardens B17 which is owned by Ahmed Riaz Associate. This project consists of parking floors (03), shops, food court and apartments, offices and hotels.
The site visit to the under-construction multistory shopping mall provided a unique opportunity to students enhancing their understanding of the mechanical, structural, electrical and plumbing design of the project. Different aspects of construction, safety protocols, project management, and structural engineering in the context of a large-scale construction project were presented
