<p>The Civil Engineering Department of <b>HITEC University</b> organized an awareness and technical session titled “Smog: A Silent Threat to Our Environment” on January 15, 2026, in <b>Iqbal Auditorium</b>. The session was delivered by <b>Dr. Sadia Nasreen</b>, Associate Professor in the Environmental Engineering Department at <b>University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila</b>, who highlighted the causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies related to smog and air pollution. The speaker discussed major sources of air pollutants, health and environmental consequences, seasonal smog conditions in urban regions, and sustainable measures to control emissions through policy, engineering solutions, and public awareness. The session provided valuable insights to students and faculty members regarding environmental protection and the role of engineers in addressing air quality challenges, reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development awareness among future engineers.</p>
