On March 4, 2025, under the esteemed guidance of the Worthy Dean/Chairperson, Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Junaid Ali Khan, and Dr. Saima Shaheen (HoP, Software Engineering), the BS Software Engineering (BSSE) Final Year – 2K21 (8th Semester) students embarked on an industrial visit to the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) at NASTP, Rawalpindi as part of their Industry-Academia Linkage Program. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the startup ecosystem, incubation facilities, and internship opportunities available at NASTP, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement among future graduates.

The delegation was led by Mr. Talha Saeed (Lecturer, Software Engineering Department), Mr. Aniq Ansari (Lab Demonstrator), and Ms. Ammal (Placement and Industrial Liaison Officer). They were nominated by Dr. Saima Shaheen, Head of Program (HoP), Software Engineering, to accompany the students.

During the visit, Mr. Abid Gul Qazi, Program Manager at NICAT, addressed the students and shared valuable insights into the startups currently operating at the incubation center. He elaborated on:

  • The process of securing a place at NICAT for launching startups.
  • The facilities and free workspaces available to students aspiring to establish their own tech ventures.
  • The internship opportunities provided by NASTP, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry experience.

The visit was highly informative and engaging, equipping students with in-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, industry trends, and potential career opportunities in technology-driven sectors. It also encouraged students to explore innovative ideas and consider leveraging incubation centers for startup development.

We extend our sincere gratitude to NASTP and NICAT for their hospitality and for sharing invaluable guidance with our students. Such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering industry-academia collaboration, ultimately benefiting students in their professional growth and career aspirations.
