NICAT Industrial Visit

On March 4, 2025, under the esteemed guidance of the Worthy Dean/Chairperson, Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Junaid Ali Khan, and Dr. Saima Shaheen (HoP, Software Engineering), the BS Software Engineering (BSSE) Final Year – 2K21 (8th Semester) students embarked on an industrial visit to the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) at NASTP, Rawalpindi as part of their Industry-Academia Linkage Program. The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the startup ecosystem, incubation facilities, and internship opportunities available at NASTP, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement among future graduates.

The delegation was led by Mr. Talha Saeed (Lecturer, Software Engineering Department), Mr. Aniq Ansari (Lab Demonstrator), and Ms. Ammal (Placement and Industrial Liaison Officer). They were nominated by Dr. Saima Shaheen, Head of Program (HoP), Software Engineering, to accompany the students.

During the visit, Mr. Abid Gul Qazi, Program Manager at NICAT, addressed the students and shared valuable insights into the startups currently operating at the incubation center. He elaborated on:

  • The process of securing a place at NICAT for launching startups.
  • The facilities and free workspaces available to students aspiring to establish their own tech ventures.
  • The internship opportunities provided by NASTP, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry experience.

The visit was highly informative and engaging, equipping students with in-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, industry trends, and potential career opportunities in technology-driven sectors. It also encouraged students to explore innovative ideas and consider leveraging incubation centers for startup development.

We extend our sincere gratitude to NASTP and NICAT for their hospitality and for sharing invaluable guidance with our students. Such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering industry-academia collaboration, ultimately benefiting students in their professional growth and career aspirations.

Industrial Visit to DruPak.

In a significant step toward fostering industry-academia collaboration, faculty members from the Software Engineering program, Ms. Syeda Hina Gillani and Mr. Talha Saeed, along with Ms. Ammal, Placement and Industry Liaison Officer, visited DruPak Software House at New City. This visit was conducted on the instructions of Prof. Dr. Junaid Ali Khan,Dean/ Chairperson of Computer Science, and Dr. Saima Shaheen Head of Program SE to explore internship and training opportunities for BS Software Engineering students.

Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Mr. Naveed Khan, Managing Director of DruPak Software House. He provided an insightful briefing about the software house’s operations, ongoing projects, and its commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Mr. Naveed emphasized the importance of equipping students with hands-on experience in real-world software development, particularly in Drupal development and training.

DruPak Software House specializes in exceptional digital experiences and offers a range of Drupal development services. Recognizing the growing demand for specialized skills, the company also provides structured Drupal training programs tailored for individuals at different skill levels, ensuring they gain practical expertise and industry-relevant knowledge.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity to discuss potential collaborations for internship placements, technical training workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that will help students enhance their professional capabilities.

The delegation expressed their appreciation to DruPak Software House for their hospitality and commitment to fostering academic-industry partnerships. Such collaborations will play a crucial role in preparing students for successful careers in the ever-evolving software development landscape.

Industrial Trip to Coronet Foods English Biscuit Peak Frean

The Industrial Trip to Coronet Foods – English Biscuit Peak Freans was an insightful experience for students, offering them a firsthand look into the food manufacturing industry. Organized by the Management Sciences Department, the visit aimed to enhance students' understanding of production processes, quality control, and supply chain management. During the tour, students observed various stages of biscuit manufacturing, from raw material processing to packaging, while industry experts explained the importance of hygiene standards, automation, and efficiency in food production. The trip provided valuable practical exposure, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industry practices, and inspiring students to explore career opportunities in the FMCG sector.

Industrial Visit of Biomedical Engineering department Batch 2022 to PAF-IAST

Happy to share the successfully completed enriching industrial visit of the Batch 2022 of the Biomedical Engineering Department from HITEC University, Taxila to the Biological Sciences Department and Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence (SPCAI), at PAF-IAST Haripur, on 4th December 2024, under the supervision of Engr. Atiqa Saleem who is serving as a focal person of Industrial linkages and visits.


During this visit students explored laboratory equipment and gained valuable insights into research methodologies.


Also, special thanks to Engr. Sheza Tahir for accompanying us on this visit.

A key highlight was a productive meeting between Engr. Atiqa Saleem, Engr. Sheza Tahir, and Dr. Najam-us-Sehar, Head of the Department, to discuss collaboration opportunities between BME at HITEC and Biological Sciences at PAF-IAST.

Signing of Letter of Agreement (LoA) between HITEC University Taxila and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), NDMA Islamabad-Civil Engineering Department

HITEC University and the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), a key division of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), formally signed a Letter of Agreement (LoA) to establish a collaborative partnership aimed at enhancing disaster management capabilities and fostering innovation in the field.


1. Overview of the Agreement


Article I: Objective
The primary objective of the LoA is to promote cooperation between HITEC University and NIDM to achieve a stable continuum of innovation and value addition in national disaster management responses. This collaboration aims to implement people-centric approaches and develop locally embedded innovative solutions based on comprehensive needs assessments. Both institutions are committed to developing proactive strategies and enhancing disaster resilience against both natural and human-induced hazards.


Article II: Areas of Cooperation
The agreement outlines several key areas of collaboration:


  1. Research and Development: Joint participation in national and international R&D initiatives, knowledge exchange with local and foreign institutions, and promotion of international cooperation in disaster management.
  2. Publication and Documentation: Co-publication of research papers, policy briefs, plans, guidelines, and training manuals. Research themes will be coordinated with NIDM’s research teams
  3. Technical Capability Enhancement:Sharing of expertise, data, technical tools, software, and infrastructure to strengthen disaster management systems in Pakistan.
  4. Emergency Operations Centre Model:Providing technical support for replicating the NDMA’s National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) model in all provinces to improve early warning systems at the local level.
  5. Training and Education:Organizing joint workshops, simulation exercises, conferences, seminars, and internships to advance disaster management training and education.
  6. Faculty and Researcher Exchange:Facilitating the exchange of faculty, researchers, and officials for teaching, training, and collaborative research.
  7. Advocacy and Risk Awareness:Joint efforts in advocating for effective disaster management policies and practices through information exchange and dissemination of best practices.

Railway Hospital Visit

The Biomedical Engineering department of HITEC University recently embarked on an industrial tour at Pakistan Railway General Hospital in Rawalpindi. This tour served as a valuable opportunity for students to gain insights into the day-to-day operations of biomedical services across the hospital. During the visit, students were taught essential skills such as respecting patient privacy, conducting equipment checks, and effectively communicating with end-users to schedule planned preventive maintenance. They learned how to provide training and support to hospital staff, ensuring the smooth operation of biomedical equipment and services.
